A Bit About Melanie

Melanie Musselman, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a passionate and dedicated speech-language pathologist who specializes in working with children and families to foster meaningful communication. With a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences from York College and a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Towson University, Melanie has spent over a decade honing her skills to meet the diverse needs of children and adults.

Born and raised in Hanover, PA, Melanie’s professional journey began in mental health and human services, where she worked as a crisis intervention specialist, helping adults with chronic mental illness. Wanting to make a more long-term, preventative impact, she transitioned to early intervention and speech therapy, where she has since thrived.

​

Melanie is passionate about working in a collaborative environment with families and other professionals to build therapeutic relationships that empower children to reach their full potential. She has a particular interest in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) assessment and implementation, Gestalt Language Processing, and client-led, play-based therapy. Recently, Melanie has also been expanding her expertise in executive dysfunction, motor speech disorders, and DIR/Floortime therapy.

When not working, Melanie enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and their three cats in Glenville, PA.

Speech-Language Pathologist | Little Journeys Speech Therapy

At Little Journeys Speech Therapy, Melanie provides individualized speech therapy services that focus on enhancing communication skills in children of all ages. Specializing in articulation, language development, and social communication, she works closely with families to create personalized treatment plans aimed at helping children reach their full potential. Melanie is committed to fostering a positive and engaging environment where children feel empowered to express themselves confidently.​

Speech-Language Pathologist | Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12
As a school-based SLP, Melanie serves students across a variety of ages (K-12, transition age) with diverse communication needs. Specializing in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), Gestalt Language Processing, and play-based therapy, she works collaboratively with teachers, families, and other professionals to support students’ growth and independence.

Speech-Language Pathologist Intern | Towson University
During her time at Towson University, Melanie completed extensive clinical internships in diverse settings, gaining hands-on experience working with children and adults with a wide range of communication disorders.

Crisis Intervention Specialist & Behavioral Health | Various Roles
Before becoming a speech-language pathologist, Melanie worked in the mental health field, providing crisis intervention and support for adults with chronic mental health conditions. This experience laid the foundation for her therapeutic approach, which combines empathy, patience, and a strong understanding of behavioral health.
